This is weird! Do other websites “know” what you’ve been talking about on here? I think they do !?

Question by Poyzin: This is weird! Do other websites “know” what you’ve been talking about on here? I think they do !?
I asked a couple questions on here about my car’s seats. And the next day, I open up Amazon.com, and guess what they are recommending to sell me from the Amazon home page? CAR SEAT COVERS!!
I did not search for this item directly, so the only way they could have known, is if they are spying on me with spyware or something!!!

Uh… had you done any searches on Amazon for car seats? Or covers?

    its called a cookie.

sites automatically initiate a download to your computer when you go onto them. what the upload to you is called a cookie. it is not spyware. all that it mainly does is identify a user, so if you go to the same website more than one time, then it will treat you as the same person.

cookies can also have negative effects. some of them use your search history. in this case, you used yahoo answers, and the amazon.com cookie took the info you entered in and displayed products similar to keywords you typed.

if you want to delete all cookies, go to the tools or options bar on your browser, and find the option to delete all cookies and personal data. that should clear things up.
