People notice what they look like. Could you sell Paint-by-Number as artwork?
Colanth is absolutely right. Let me add something else to consider. Some of these website builder services have restrictions that are unacceptable. A common one to watch out for is ownership and licensing of the templates and template components (graphics, flash, audio for example). Sometimes the fine print says that you only have a license to use that material when the site is hosted on their servers. You sell that without disclosing all the restrictions and you will have some angry people looking for you.
You can sell them to gullible people.
One look at the code, and any pro will reject it: the code generated by any website builder is intrinsically crap.
For HTML based site builder there is no way you can hide the code it generated. And it is very easy to see (from the coding style) that it is generated using a program.
Some flash site builder, such as A4Desk http://www.a4deskpro.com generates flash based websites, which cannot be decompiled, so your clients can’t view its source and make it easier for resell purpose. Although keep in mind not all clients like flash based websites.
i do exactly what you are talking about with a builder called five minute builder.
all i do is create the site often within the free 10 day trial period and then just have them take over the account and continue to pay the hosting on it.
they get a great looking site that they wouldn’t have known how to built and the builder is so simple to use that after i create it for them they can easily maintain it themselves or sometimes they will pay me to do updates for them
it works really well for me and five minute builder is so easy to use when you get use to it that you can pump out good looking sites in a couple hours max.
