It’s hard to answer specifically without more information. Do you get an error message when you attempt to connect? Have you tried using an alternate broswer from your iMac (such as Firefox, Opera, Safari)?
Two things that come to mind right away are cookies (many sites require you to accept a cookie in order to log in) and the ability to handle the certificate key length (if you’re using a much older browser it might only handle, e.g, a 128-byte key while the site you’re visiting requires a 1024-byte key).

Make sure you don’t have Private Browsing (under the Safari pulldown menu) turned on. If you do, uncheck it and close Safari, reopen it and try your site again.
