Question by ♥§♥§♥: Can you give me some websites to research the “Feudal System” established by William the Conqueor?
I need it for homework. I want it to be pretty thorough and it needs to describe the different classes of people as well. But I don’t want somthing that’s like super long and I already checked wikipedia.

Thanks ahead for any helpful answers!

Please please please don’t say ‘feudal system’! there was no such thing! That’s probably why you’re having trouble researching it.

William the Conqueror didn’t establish any system of hierarchy in England. There have always been different classes of people in societies, but very rarely (if ever) has anyone decided what those classes are and imposed that on the state. Different classes of society evolve over time and the only ones that generally have a fixed nature are the slave and noble classes…everything else is fluid.

The classes of people in post-conquest England were serfs landed nobility, clergy, and everyone else.

I hope that question wasn’t given to you by a history teacher because if so they need a slap!
